Jerry Willard Mauney, 73, of Harrisburg passed away Monday, April 8, 2013 at CMC-NorthEast in Concord. Mr. Mauney was born August 11, 1939 in Cabarrus County to the late Willard Woodrow Mauney, Sr. and the late Martha Burris Horton. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by step-mother, Agnes Maddron Mauney, in-laws, Jack & Ida McCall, and a sister, Shelby Jean Little. Mr. Mauney was a veteran of the US Army having served as a Helicopter Technician. He retired from Viking Freight (Spartan Express) as a shop supervisor, he also coached little league baseball. The family will receive friends from 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm, Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at Hartsell Funeral Home in Concord. The funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Thursday, April 11th in the Hartsell Funeral Home Concord Chapel, officiated by Rev. Michael Waters. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis. At other times the family will be meeting at the home at 329 Woodside Drive Harrisburg. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Elva Virginia Mauney of Harrisburg, NC, daughter, Sherry "Smokey" Isenhour and her husband Brian of Concord, NC, son, Richard "Butch" Mauney and his wife Jan of Harrisburg, NC, granddaughters, Lauren "Punkin" Mauney of Newland, NC, and Lindsey "Tinker" Stowe of Concord, NC, step-grandson, Stephen Frye, brother, Willard W. Mauney, Jr., sisters, Barbara Horton Pressley, and Vicky Horton Poston. Memorials may be made to American Lung Association 1301 Pennsylvania Avenue NW Suite #800 Washington, DC 20004 or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105. Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord is serving the Mauney family.
