Jerry Lane Sanderson, 71, of Indian Trail, passed away Thursday, September 30, 2021.
Jerry was born April 5, 1950 in North Carolina to the late Lacy Sanderson and the late Ellen Lee Thompson.
He was also preceded in death by brothers, Larry Oxendine, Ronald Deese, and Kermit Sanderson.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm, Saturday, October 9, 2021 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland.
Survivors include wife, Sherrie Sanderson of Indian Trail; children, Terry Elaine Sanderson of Lincolnton, Billy Oxendine of Wingate, and Chris Oxendine of Angier, NC; grandchildren, Taylor Sanderson, Lane Freeman, Rachell Smith, Alex Whitaker, Kasey Oxendine, and Matthew Oxendine, Kadyen Oxendine; brother, Allen Ray Oxendine of NY; sister, Lois Ellen Lundgren of Richfield; and many other siblings.
Jerry enjoyed Westerns, especially Gunsmoke and Bonanza and Oldies music, especially Doo-Wop, and he loved to dance. He loved the outdoors, working with his hands, creating drawings and inventions. Jerry was proud of his Lumbee heritage, very hardworking, and self taught in everything he did. He worked for Ryder Transportation for 39 years, retiring in 2010. Jerry will be remembered for always finding something to laugh and smile about and for his love for his family, including wife of 22 years Sherrie, his children, and grandchildren.
