Jerry Sigmon

Jerry  Wayne Sigmon, 85, of Concord, passed away Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at Carolinas HealthCare System NorthEast in Concord.

Mr. Sigmon was born May 23, 1933 in Newton, North Carolina to the late Fred Pierce Sigmon and the late Bryte L.Sigmon.
He was also preceded in death by an infant son.

He was married to the former Ruth Stewart of Catawba, NC, the love of his life for 56 years, who survives.
Mr. Sigmon was a veteran, serving in the U.S Army, in Korea from 1953-1955. A graduate of Newton-Conover High and Lenoir Rhyne College. He was a teacher in Duval County Florida and Winecoff Elementary School. He also worked with Human Resource Depts in Iredell and Mecklenburg Counties and with First Union Bank in Charlotte, NC.
He enjoyed traveling in later years and was also an active Community Volunteer with CHS Northeast Hospital, Juvenile Court Division, Old Courthouse. He also served as an Election Official and judge in precinct 12. He was of the Baptist faith.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm, Monday, December 17, 2018 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. The funeral service will be on Monday at 2:00 pm at Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Rev. Tim Newton. Burial will follow at the Carolina Memorial Park Kannapolis at Hwy. 29N at I85, Exit 58, Concord.

Survivors in addition to his wife, Ruth, include Russell and JoAnn Sigmon and Ms. Betty Shell of Conover, NC. Special in-Laws Roy and Jean Stewart, Tim and Leann and Tyler Stewart, Becky, Ashley, Dokota,and Gray Subat, Frances Barger, Dale and Nancy Stewart. Also Special friends Mrs. Peggy Price and family.
