Jessie Mcghee

Jessie Leah Thomas Brooks McGhee, age 86, of New Salem, peacefully slipped away to be with our Lord, surrounded by several family members, on June 5, 2012, at Hospice House of Union County. The family will receive friends at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle on Thursday, June 7 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. The funeral service will be held at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 7002 Pleasant Hill Church Road, Marshville, NC 28103, on Friday, June 7 at 4:00 PM, officiated by Rev. Gene Hopkins. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. McGhee was born in Union County on September 11, 1925, to the late Vernon Cornelius Thomas and the late Ollie Maude Williams Thomas of New Salem. She is also preceded in death by two sons, Jerry Brooks and Bobby Brooks; one grandson, Malcolm Brooks; five sister, Merle Thomas, Minnie Mullis, Veta Deal, Mavis Rowell and Nola Morgan; three brothers, Clinton Thomas, Robert Thomas and Darrell Thomas. She is survived by three grandsons, Dion Brooks, Steve Brooks and Richard Brooks; five great grandchildren, six great great-grandchildren; one brother, Lawrence Thomas; many loving nieces and nephews; and her cherished dog Pepper. A special thanks to the staff of CMC Union 4th floor and Hospice of Monroe, for their love and care that our loved one received while there.
