Jewel Purser

Jewel Inez Whitley Purser, 89 years of age, of New London, passed away Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Bethany Woods Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Albemarle. Jewel was born February 7, 1925 in Stanly County to the late James Daniel Whitley and the late Sarah Eleanor Huneycutt Whitley. She was also preceded in death by husband, Joseph Purser; one infant daughter, four brothers and two sisters. A graveside service will be held at a later date at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. She is survived by daughter, Gay Almond (Ron) of Albemarle; son, Phil Huneycutt (Lisa) of Oakboro; sisters, Pat Whitley and Madge Whitley of Albemarle and Betty Almond of Locust; and brother, Buford Whitley (Joann) of Oakboro; grandchildren and great grandchildren.
