Jewell Culp

Margaret Jewell Rogers Culp, 90 years of age, of New London, passed away Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at Carolinas Medical Center - NE in Concord.

Jewell was born June 4, 1924 in Cleveland County, NC to the late Martin Luther Rogers and the late Carrie Moody Rogers. She was also preceded in death by husband, Henry Wilburn Culp, Jr.

She graduated from Albemarle High School in 1942 and attended Virginia Intermont College. She taught Sunday school many years at New London UMC, was a Cub Scout Den Mother, and a member of Pfeiffer University Friends of the Library. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, and was past president of the Hawthorne Garden Club.

The funeral service will be held on Friday at 2:00 pm at New London United Methodist Church in New London, officiated by Rev. Bob Roach, and Rev. Eileen Ayuso. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends after the service at the church. There will be a private burial following the service.

Survivors include son, Henry “Hank” (Judy) Culp, III of New London, NC; son, George Rogers Culp of New London, NC; granddaughter Amy Culp (Stan) Shelton; grandson John Henry Culp; grandson, Clinton Watts Culp; granddaughter, Monica Culp (James) Faust; granddaughter, Michelle Culp Hahn; grandson, Thomas M. (Jillian) Culp; great-grandchildren, Grayson Lee Shelton, Reese Henry Shelton, Camille Elizabeth Shelton, Joseph Henry Culp, Emma Grace Faust, Cora Jade Faust, Savanna James Faust and Sawyer Layne Culp; sister, Betty Vaughn Moser of Lincolnton, NC; brother, William M. Rogers of Albemarle, NC.
