Jewell Whitley

Jewell Idalene Whitley, 92 years of age, of Oakboro, passed away Saturday, June 24, 2017 at her home.

Jewell was born June 5, 1925 in Stanly County to the late Walter Jackson Greene and the late Ida Melissa Mauldin Greene. She was also preceded in death by her husband in 1966, Titus Alton Whitley.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., Monday, June 26, 2017 at St. Martin Lutheran Church in Albemarle. The funeral service will be on Monday at 1:00 p.m. in the church sanctuary and will be officiated by Dr. Ronnie Russell, Dr. Wayne Bennett, and Pastor John L. Petry. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Survivors include her two sons, Steve (Lynn) Whitley of Lewisville, NC, and Terry (Patty) Whitley of Oakboro; daughter, Patti (Mike) Efird of Oakboro; brother-in-law, Vernon Underwood of Albemarle; ten grandchildren, Leslie, Allison, Cameron, Matthew, Lindsey, Jordan, John, Lauren, Brandi, and Whit; and 22 great-grandchildren.

Jewell was a member First Baptist Church of Oakboro.
