Jiles Tucker

Jiles Mathue Tucker, 90, of Mt. Pleasant went to be with the Lord, Saturday, November 10, 2018, after a period of declining health.

Jiles was born June 11, 1928 in Stanly County, one of 12 children, to the late James A. Tucker and Mandy Harvell Tucker.  He is also preceded in death by son-in-law, John Harrison, Sr.; two grandsons, Jason Harrison and Tyler Poole; and nine siblings.

Jiles retired after 35 years with Air Liquide in Charlotte. He enjoyed gardening, which he shared with his friends and neighbors, and taking care of his black angus cattle.  He was very proud to have five generations of family.  Most of all, he enjoyed being with his children and grandchildren on camping trips and family outings.  He was a charter member of the Carolina Cardinals Campers for over 45 years.  He was a member of the NC Traveling Tarheels and Young Memorial Baptist.

Family members left to cherish Jiles' memory include his beloved wife of 70 years, Jackie Davis Tucker; four children, son, Richard (Sheila) Tucker; daughters, Janet Harrison (Norbert "Nob") Zalme, Vicki (Gary) Poole and Carol (Aubrey) Haigler; seven grandchildren, Amanda (Michael) Queen, Matthew (Kesha) Tucker, John (Meredith) Harrison, Jr., Josh Poole, Amber Haigler (John) Daughtry, Kelly Haigler (John) Brock, and Carrie Haigler (Phillip) Honeycutt; 15 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; brother, P.J. (Pollie) Tucker; and sister, Dollie Tucker Russell.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 13, 2018 from 6 to 8 pm, at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord.  All other times, the family will receive friends at the home. A funeral service to celebrate Jiles' life will be held 2:00 pm, Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at Young Memorial Baptist Church, Concord, officiated by Rev. Travis Boovy.  Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis.
