Jim David Almond, 87 years of age, of Albemarle, passed away Saturday, September 6, 2014, at his home.
Jim was born January 24, 1927 in Stanly County to the late Harvey Sherrill Almond and the late Troula Almond. He was also preceded in death by his son, Chris Almond; and two sisters, Maggie Hill and Moretha Benton.
The funeral service will be on Monday, September 8, 2014, at 3:00 pm at Canton Baptist Church and will be officiated by Dr. Mark Mabry and Dr. Eddie Burris. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends after the burial in the church fellowship hall.
Jim served his country during World War Two in the US Navy. He was the owner and operator of Almond Hardware, a member of the Singing Americans of Stanly County and also enjoyed serving his church family as a deacon at Canton Baptist Church.
Survivors include wife of 66 years, Cora Lee Cranford Almond of Albemarle; brother, Sherrill Almond, Jr. of Norwood; and daughter-in-law, Debbie Almond Morris of Albemarle.
