Jimmy "Jim" Lee Baucom, 80 years of age, of Monroe, passed away Friday, April 18, 2014 at Hospice of Union County in Monroe.
Mr. Baucom was born April 18, 1934 in Union County to the late Charlie Cleveland Baucom and the late Ora Jane Rushing Baucom. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Thurlow Baucom.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 pm, Monday, April 21, 2014 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland. The funeral service will be on Tuesday at 11:00 am at Shiloh Advent Christian Church, 3601 Sikes Mill Road in Monroe, officiated by Rev. Travis Hutchinson and Rev. Justin Nash. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Bedie Perry Baucom of Monroe; sons, Tony (Kim) Baucom, Greg (Tammy) Baucom, and Russ Baucom, all of Monroe; daughters, Debbie (Everette) Medlin of Monroe and Denise Baucom Howle of Charlotte; brothers, Kenneth Baucom, Bennett Baucom, and Dennis Baucom all of Monroe; sisters, Letha Greene and Joy Baucom of Monroe; eight grandchildren, Drew and Brett Medlin, Luke and Carley Baucom, Ethan Howle, Savannah, Noah, and Dylan Baucom; and great-granddaughter, Finley Baucom.
Active in his community, Jim was owner/operator of Unionville Service and Grocery since 1968. He served on the Unionville Town Council, was a volunteer fireman, and served as a chairperson of the Unionville BBQ.
