Jimmy Burris

Jimmy Eugene Burris, 81 years of age, of Concord, passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis.

Jim was born March 26, 1934 in Rowan County North Carolina to the late Floyd Eugene Burris and Kathleen Holshouser Parks. He was also preceded in death by his son, Ronald Eugene Burris and two brothers, Bobby Wayne Burris and Howard Lee Burris.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Thursday, March 3, 2016 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. The funeral service will be held Friday at 2:00 pm at Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel in Concord officiated by Rev. Everette Cox. Burial will follow at West Concord Cemetery, 331 Union Cemetery Rd SW, Concord.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Thelma Lefler Burris; his son, Larry Wayne Burris and wife Diane McCann Burris of Concord. Jim was the grandfather of two grandchildren that he loved, Larry Wayne Burris, Jr. of Ft. Myers, FL and Olivia Diane Burris of Charlotte. Also surviving Jim, is his one sister, Patsy Ruth Burris of Charlotte.

Jim served his country as a member of the United States Army and military honors will be accorded to him at the cemetery on Friday. Working for Cannon Mills as his health allowed, Jim loved to tell stories, loved NASCAR and liked going to car shows. He was of the Baptist faith.

The family would like to thank the staff at Tucker Hospice house for their care and compassion shown to Jim during his time there. Also, a special thanks to his nephew Jerry Burris for all his help during Jim's sickness.

The family will be gathering at the home of the son, Larry Burris.
