Jimmy Edward Hinson

Jimmy Edward Hinson, 88, of Harrisburg, NC passed away peacefully Friday, October 27, 2023 surrounded by his family at Five Oaks Manor in Concord, NC. Jimmy was born December 9, 1934 in Concord to the late Henry Clifton Hinson and the late Alma Patra Austin Hinson. He attended Concord High School where he played shortstop on the baseball team.

Jimmy deeply loved his family, friends, and pets, especially his dogs. Additionally, he was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves and the Appalachian State Mountaineers. He served his country as a Private in the U.S. Army and Reserve. After receiving his Bachelor’s degree from Appalachian State University, he began his 30+-year career with Duke Power Company.

He was married for 62 years to his surviving spouse Emily Patterson Hinson. Other survivors include, daughters Patti Johnson (husband Scott) and Robin Brown (husband Bryan); grandchildren Mandy Robertson (husband Jesse), Will Johnson (wife Jessica), and Olivia Brown; great grandchildren Annie and Jack Robertson and Darcy and Zoey Johnson.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, November 2, 2023 at 3:00 pm at Grace Church, 2007 Stallings Road, Harrisburg, NC with the Reverend Doug Agnew officiating.
