Jimmy Morgan, 80, of 3855 Hwy 200 Concord passed away on Saturday, February 12, 2011 at his home. Born on September 5, 1930 in Robeson County to the late William Burch and Lottie Mae Lovette Morgan. Also preceded in death by brothers Rembert, Johnny, Willie, Frank, and Freddy Morgan, and sister Pearlie M. Roach. Mr. Morgan was a veteran of US Army having served in 82nd Airborne, and a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church where he was a former Chairman of Deacons. Jimmy was also owner and operator of Jimmy’s Service Center. He was a Gideon, former volunteer fireman with Allen VFD. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and always liked to work in his garden. The family meeting place will be at the home. A visitation will be held at Hartsell Funeral Home Concord on Tuesday, February 15, 2011 from 6 until 8 PM. Funeral services will be held at Hartsell Funeral Home Concord on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at 2 PM, with Rev. Jimmie Bartley and Rev. Gary Chapman officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis. Military rites will be performed at graveside by Cabarrus County Veterans Honor Guard. Survived by: wife, Shirley Morgan of the home; son, Jimmy Keith Morgan of Concord; daughters, Judy Reid and husband Harry of Kannapolis, Donna M. Cook and husband W.E. "Toad" of Mt. Pleasant, and Diane Cunningham and husband Brian of Mt. Pleasant; brother, J.F. "Curly" Morgan of Harrisburg; sisters, Nina M. Barnes of Spring Lake, NC, Nettie M. Adrain of Venice, FL, and Mabel M. Cooper of Concord; grandchildren, Justin and Sumner McBride, Gracie Cook, Chrissy Mack, Brittany, Jessie, and Morgan Cunningham, Dylan, Jacob, and Emma Morgan; 6 great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Mt. Carmel Baptist Church 6986 Gold Hill Road Concord, NC 28025. Hartsell Funeral Home Concord is serving the Morgan family.
