Jimmy Morton

Jimmy Lee Morton, age 65, of Oakboro, passed away suddenly on Monday, December 19, 2011, at home. . The family will receive friends at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle on Thursday, December 22 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. At other times, the family will meet at his home. The funeral service will be held at Barbee’s Grove Baptist Church on Friday, December 23, at 2:00 pm, with a 30 minute state, officiated by Rev. Phillip Smith and Rev. Terry Burris. Burial will follow at the Smith’s Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with full military rites performed by the Stanly County DAV. Mr. Morton was born in Stanly County on February 8, 1946, to the late Arthur Ellis Morton and the late Eva Adie Barbee Morton. He is also preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Morton. Mr. Morton retired after 32 years at Rusco Fixtures and was a member at Barbee’s Grove Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Shirley Ann Hilliard Morton, of the home; son, James Morton and wife Tega of Marshville; daughter, Leigh Ann Springer and husband Denny of Oakboro; grandchildren, Kayla Morton, Maddison Morton, Brittany Springer, Jacksen Springer and Allie Springer.
