Jimmy Smith

June 14, 1936 — February 25, 2018

Jimmy Landon Smith, 81 years of age, of Oakboro, passed away Sunday, February 25, 2018 at PruittHealth - Town Center in Harrisburg.

Mr. Smith was born June 14, 1936 in Stanly County to the late Claude Monroe Smith  and the late Viola Williams Smith. He was also preceded in death by brothers; Lee Smith, Horace Smith, Bob Smith, Flave Smith, Billy Ray Smith, and Bobby Kenneth Smith, and sisters; Gladys Eury and Mildred Shaver.

Jimmy loved farming, especially his cows and tractors. He was a faithful member of Red Cross Baptist Church and served as a Deacon.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM - 1:45 PM, Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at Red Cross Baptist Church, 112 W. Red Cross Rd, Oakboro. The funeral service will follow in the church sanctuary at 2:00 PM officiated by Rev. Jessie Herring and Rev. Garry Baker.  Burial will be held in the church cemetery following the service.

Survivors include wife of 61 years, Esther Smith; son, Rex Smith; and brother Melton "Doc" Smith all of Oakboro.

Memorials may be made to The Red Cross Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 112 W. Red Cross Rd, Oakboro, NC 28129.
