Joan Childs

Joan Marion Wild Childs (Boopie), 79, of Albemarle, passed away Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at Carolina's HealthCare Systems - NorthEast in Concord.

Joan was born August 2, 1937 in Brooklyn, New York to the late Herbert Wild and the late Violet Ruth Jackson Wild. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 23 years, Bobby Ray Childs, who passed away in 2016; and brother, John Wild.

There are no services at this time.

She is survived by her sons, James Markey of New Hampshire; John Markey of Arizona; Michael Markey of New York; Eric Markey of Asheville; Donald Markey of Albemarle; daughter, Leah Wilson of Burlington; brothers, Walter Wild of Lexington; Arthur Wild of Arizona; Dennis Wild of Arizona; sisters, Carol Jean Boles of Albemarle; Susan Shippey of New York; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was a woman who loved to laugh, always looked to the brightside, even when times were tough. She always had room in her heart and at her table for anyone who walked through her door.
