Joan Harkey

Joan “Joanie” Ruth Harkey, age 33, of Charlotte, NC passed away on Friday, June 22, 2012 at her home. The graveside service, officiated by Rev. Patrick Womack, will be held at 1PM on Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at Crescent Hill Memorial Park in Columbia, SC. Joanie was born in Columbia, SC on June 14, 1979 to the late Walter Metz, Jr. and the late Deetsie Metz Ingram Harkey. She is survived by her father, Don Harkey and wife Janet of Seven Lakes, NC; sister, Jennie Furr and husband Ashley of Stanfield, NC; nephew, Mason Furr of Stanfield; aunt, Deborah Shotkus and husband Bob of Mooresville, NC, first cousin, Joe Shotkus of Mooresville, NC; grandfather, Walter Metz of Knoxville, TN; aunt, Betty Lynn Metz of Knoxville, TN; uncle, Michael Metz and wife Lynn of Tallahassee, FL; uncle, Larry Harkey and wife Linda of Albemarle, NC; first cousins, Terrie Holshouser and husband Ross of Albemarle, Sarah Palmer and husband Bryan of Albemarle; aunt, Cindy Rhodes and husband Terry of New London, NC; and first cousin, Eric Rhodes of Raleigh. Joanie worked in preschool daycare in the Charlotte area, and was a member of Carolina Presbyterian Church in Locust, NC.
