Joan Lewis

Joan L. Lewis, 67, of 9816 Chestnut Hills Rd., Harrisburg, died Thursday, June 4, 2009 at CMC-University. The visitation will be held at Hartsell Funeral Home in Concord, Monday, June 8, 2009, from 6 to 8 pm. The family will have a graveside service at Carolina Memorial Park in Harrisburg. Mrs. Lewis was born April 1, 1942 in Andover, Mass. to the late John Malachi Lynch and Eleanor Barrow Lynch. She graduated from Seaton Hall College with a BA in Latin and worked as a teacher at Charlotte Country Day School. She enjoyed travel, teaching and her family. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lewis was preceded in death by her brother, John James Lynch. She is survived by Richard Alwyn Lewis, her husband of 41 years; her son John Malachi Lewis and his wife, Amy, of Mount Pleasant; son Stephen Richard Lewis, of Concord; daughter Laurie Anne Lewis, of Harrisburg; and her sister Sharyn Davis, of North Billerica, Mass. Memorials may be made to Charlotte Country Day School, 1440 Carmel Rd., Charlotte, NC 28226, for the General Endowment for Scholarships Fund - In Memory of Joan Lewis. The family is being served by Hartsell Funeral Home, Concord.
