Joe Earnhardt

Joe Columbus Earnhardt, 72, of Kannapolis, passed away Monday, March 15, 2021 at Atrium Health Cabarrus in Concord.

Joe was born April 23, 1948 in Concord, North Carolina to the late Roy William Earnhardt and the late Maggie Eudy Earnhardt.

He was also preceded in death by son Joey Earnhardt Jr. and granddaughter Katrina Lipke. As well as siblings; Roy Earnhardt Jr, Buck Earnhardt, Bill Earnhardt, Ted Earnhardt, Ned Earnhardt, and Peggy Wagner.

Joe retired from the NC DOT as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic. Previously, he was a Medium Duty Truck Shop Mechanic for twenty years at Ben Mynatt. In his free time, he was an avid outdoorsman. There was never a time that he wasn’t out on the lake fishing or out in the woods hunting. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather that loved his wife, kids, and grandchildren endlessly. He was a man that would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. And he loved his grandchildren more than anything in this world. He will forever be missed and remembered for being the amazing man he was.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Thursday, March 18, 2021 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. The funeral service will be on Friday, March 19, 2021 at 3:00 pm at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. The service will be officiated by the Rev. Kevin Munson with the burial to follow at the Oakwood Cemetery at 421 Church Street, Concord. The family will also gather at the home of his son Darron Earnhardt, 550 Hunter Ave. Kannapolis, NC 28083.

Survivors include wife, Deborah Earnhardt of Kannapolis, NC. Daughter Tracie Lipke (John) of Granite Quarry, NC and son Darron Earnhardt (Wendy) of Kannapolis, NC. Grandchildren; Chasity Dougherty (Michael), Taylor Thorpe, Victoria Thorpe, Gabby Earnhardt, and Johnny Lipke. And great granddaughter Talia.
