Joe Howard Hagler, Sr., received God's ultimate healing from health complications at his home surrounded by his loving family on July 16, 2014.
He was born June 28, 1932 in Mecklenburg County to the late George Franklin Hagler and the late Nellie Simpson Hagler. He was also preceded in death by son, Daniel Ray Hagler, and all his siblings, sisters; Lonie Pope, Nolian Pope, Edith Long, Dorothy Spears, Edna Yandle, Macie Theiling, and Madge Little and brothers; Earl Hagler and Jennings Hagler.
Joe was a retired employee of the N.C. Department of Highways. On retirement he perfected his master craftsmanship and took pride in his work. His happiest times were spent with family, enjoying fun times with a fishing pole. He was an excellent example of true love of God and family.
The family will receive family and friends at First Baptist Church of Locust on Saturday, July 19, 2014 from 10 until 11:00 am. The funeral service will follow at 11 am in the church sanctuary and will be officiated by doctors: Tommy Ross, Kinney Wallace, and Tim Hagler. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 62 years, Dorothy Ray Hagler and children; Joe Hagler, Jr. (Angela), Robin Tompkins (Joe), and Tim (Kathee), grandchildren; Michelle, Matthew (Kim) and Chasity Tompkins, Hannah, Daniel, Abi, and Lizzy Hagler, Sarah, Olivia, and Madison Hagler.
