Joel Jethro Drake, 96 years of age, of Midland, passed away Saturday, February 6, 2016 at his residence in Midland.
Joel was born January 27, 1920 in Union County to the late John Alexander Drake and the late Carrie Elizabeth Drake. He was also preceded in death by wife, Eunice Lee Drake; brothers, Grady Alexander Drake, Sherman Marshall Drake, John Vann Drake, Billy J. "Bob" Drake, and Curtis Landon Drake; sisters, Mary Alice Drake Kiker, and Alice Drake McDaniel.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Monday, February 8, 2016 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland. The funeral service officiated by Rev. Tom Gibbs will be at 3:30 pm, Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at First Baptist Church of Midland. Burial will follow at the First Baptist Cemetery, 4720 Garmon Mill Rd., Midland with Military rites being conducted by Post 433 American Legion. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service.
He is survived by his son, Tim Drake of Charlotte; daughter, Faith Alexander of Albemarle; granddaughters, Jennifer Drake Carter, Tammy Alexander Warren; great grandchildren, Parris, Pierce, Paxton, and Peylin Carter; and sister, Joy Eudy.
