Joel Tucker

Joel Edward Tucker, 72 years of age, of Oakboro, passed away Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at Novant Health - Presbyterian Medical Center in Charlotte surrounded by his family.
Joel was born June 12, 1944 in Stanly County, North Carolina, to the late Joel Edward Tucker Sr. and the late Noel Huneycutt Lambert.
Survivors include his loving wife of 42 years, Marie Tucker of Oakboro; sons, Christopher Tucker and Jeffery Tucker; stepdaughters, Dawn Merlino, and Sherri Steckbauer; stepsons Bruce Beehler, and Shawn Beehler; sister, Nancy T. (Ranny) Furr; stepsister, Carrie (Joe) McLester; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and special family members, June Morgan, Ted Huneycutt, Judy Norman, and Steve and Myrna Redwine.
Joel served in the US Army for 19 years in numerous post including Vietnam, Korea, and Germany. He was also in the Civil Service for 10 years.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, May 13, 2017 at Indian Hill Presbyterian Church, Highway 200, Stanfield with full military honors being conducted. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.
