John Benson

John William Benson, 72 years of age, of Salisbury, went to be with his Lord and Savior Friday, August 15, 2014 in Concord.

John was born June 18, 1942 in Cabarrus County to the late Bob Glen Benson and the late Mary Virginia Benson. John was a church Deacon, banjo player, and led bible study at Coldwater Baptist for years on Monday night. He was veteran of the US Army and served his country in the Vietnam War.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm, Saturday, August 16, 2014 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. The funeral service will be on Sunday at 3:00 pm at Cold Water Baptist in officiated by Rev Jim Posey. Burial will follow at the Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis, NC where military rites will be conducted at the graveside.

Survivors include wife, Sharon Lea Benson of Salisbury, NC; daughter, Scarlett Rumburg and husband Stephen of Concord, NC; son, Wayne Benson wife Kristin of Spartanburg, SC; step-son, David Price Griffin of Salisbury, NC; step-daughter, Sherry Lynn Griffin of Locust, NC; grandchildren, Heather, Hogan, Brittany, Kailee, Kanyon; brother, Bobby Benson of Mooresville, NC; brother, Jerry Benson of Mooresville, NC; half-brother, Tim Jordan of Mooresville, NC.
