John Cochran, Jr.

John Willard Cochran Jr, 84, of Concord, passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at Atrium Health Cabarrus Hospital in Concord.

Mr. Cochran was born May 27, 1938, in Concord to the late John Willard Cochran Sr. and the late Bertha Rebecca Cochran.

John was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, June Ritchie Cochran, sisters Eunice Mattera, Norma Humberger and brother Dan Cochran.

John graduated from Harrisburg school in 1956. He played basketball and baseball for the Harrisburg Yellowjackets. He worked and retired at Pennsylvania House for over 40 years doing upholstery. He also umpired softball games for the Concord Rec Center in Concord. He loved playing golf with his friends and entered in many golf tournaments and won trophies and money. He loved his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

John is survived by his daughters Tracie Cochran May and Kelly Cochran Almond; son Stacey Cochran and wife Tambra; his grandchildren, Jamie Stirewalt and husband Eric, Melissa May, Casey Cochran, Jessica Simpson and husband Ryan, Brian May, Chris Almond and wife Lindsey: his great-grandchildren, Jaden Havens, Mysun Dowdle, Brennan and Max Almond, Gage Simpson and Madison and Shelby Stirewalt. Fur grandchildren Eddie, Lucy and Toby.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm, Sunday, January 8, 2023 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. The funeral service will be on Monday, January 9, 2023 at 10:00 am at Roberta United Methodist Church-Concord and be officiated by Rev. Randy Wall. Burial will follow in the church cemetery 3925 Cochran Road in Concord, NC 28027.
