John Davis Crayton

John Davis Crayton, 58, of Locust, NC, passed away on July13th.

John was born on August 27, 1964, to Jerry and Agnes Crayton of Albemarle, NC.

After graduating from West Stanly High School in 1982 he went on to study at Stanly Community College. After graduation, he landed a position as a Machinist with Krimengers Machine Shop, and then went on to work for Norfolk Southern Railroad, and eventually became a Supervisor, where he was honored with an award for 31 years of exemplary service.

On March 26, 1988, John and his sweetheart Tonya were married. They went on to have 2 wonderful children, Kyle and Madison Crayton.

John loved the outdoors, and in the Fall and Winter months you could find him in a field somewhere hunting or at home sitting around a bonfire with family and friends, cracking jokes, telling stories and laughing. In the Spring and Summer, he was often by the family’s pool swimming and listening to classic 70s and 80s music. John was a light, and people have commented to the family about how they remember his wonderful smile.

John was predeceased by his beautiful wife, Tonya Crayton on November 1, 2022. The two of them are now united in Heaven, with other family members, no longer feeling any pain, or despair.

John is survived by his parents, Jerry and Agnes Crayton, his children, Kyle and Madison Crayton, his brother, Jerry Wayne Crayton; Michael, Chelsea, and LeMond. As well as many cousins, family members and friends.

 A combined Memorial Service for John and Tonya will be held at Mission Church, 12444 Mission Church Rd, Locust, NC 28097, on Saturday July 22nd at 2pm.

Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle is serving the Crayton family.
