John “Hal†Efird, 71 years of age, passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at his home in Stanfield. Mr. Efird was born August 3, 1940 in Stanly County to the late Willis Edward Efird and the late Ramelle Odessa Brafford Efird. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Jim Efird. He retired as a field supervisor and a welder for Southern Mechanical Services in Albemarle. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 31, at New Horizon Baptist Church, 11777 Hwy. 601, Midland. Rev. Gary Wyrick and Rev. Bruce League will officiate. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall after the service. At other times, the family will meet at his home. Survivors include his loving wife of 36 years, Mary Boydene “Dene†Little Efird, of the home; a daughter, Renae Crayton and her husband, Jeff, of Locust; his grandchildren, Kelli and her husband, Robbie, Denton of Stanfield, Kyle Crayton and his fiancé, Whitney Burris, of Oakboro, and Becka Crayton of Locust; his great-granddaughter, Hali Denton; another daughter, Angel Rayfield, and her children, Jamie Gunnell, Jessie Gunnell, and Dillon Rayfield; and his sister, Frances Mullis of Stanfield. Mr. Efird’s pride and joy was his family. He dearly loved his grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Stanly County, 960 North First Street, Albemarle, NC 28001.
