John Frederick Elsheimer

John Frederick Elsheimer, 81, of Locust, NC passed away Friday, November 29, 2024, at Novant Mint Hill Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.

John was born February 19, 1943 in Pennsylvania to the late John Frederick Elsheimer Sr. and Clara Marie Mager Elsheimer.

The Celebration of Life will be held on December 21, 2024 at 2:00pm at St. Martin Lutheran Church, 5469 Hwy 200, Concord, NC 28025 officiated by Emily Lemoine . The family will receive friends at a reception immediately following the service at the Barbee-Turner VFW Post 6365 at 1011 Meadow Creek Church Road Locust NC 28097. Everyone is encouraged to bring a story or a memory of John to share.

Survivors include wife of 41 years, Elaine Elsheimer of the home; children, John Mark ‘Skip’ Elsheimer (Katrina) of Raleigh, NC, and Heather Nicole Duncan (Dave) of Mint Hill, NC, Theresa Peterson (Artie) of Concord, NC, David Blaney (Patty) of Locust NC, Michael Blaney of Albemarle, NC; grandchildren, Amy Lomas (Tom) of Charlotte, NC, Emily Peterson of Concord, NC, Nate Duncan of Charlotte, NC, Jack Blaney of Locust, NC, Megan Blaney of Locust, NC; great-grandson, Ben Lomas of Charlotte, NC; and brother, Thomas J. (Laura) Elsheimer of Hudson, MA.

You may have known him as a Dairy Queen employee or a Naval officer or a social worker or a drug educator or a chimney sweep or an emu rancher or a hypnotherapist, etc. John early on survived the fire of the USS Forrestal during his service in Vietnam. In retirement, you would often see him riding around the farm on his tractor, gardening or tending to chickens, goats and emus. He was a member of the Lions Club, a member of the Barber Turner VFW Post 6365 in Locust, NC and a member of St. Martin Lutheran Church in Concord, NC. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, his odd entrepreneurial streak, and gentle demeanor. He loved his family fiercely. We love him and will miss him dearly.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Martin Lutheran Church 5469 Hwy 200 Concord NC 28025 or Barbee-Turner VFW Post 6365 1011 Meadow Creek Church Road Locust NC 28097.
