John Franklin Parker, 75, of Concord, passed away Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Carolinas HealthCare System NorthEast in Concord.
John was born March 21, 1945 in Cabarrus County, North Carolina to the late George Richard Parker Sr. and the late Zelphia Shoe Parker.
He was also preceded in death by son, John Gregory "Greg" Parker, brother, George Parker, Jr.
John attended Cabarrus County Schools and was a graduate of Hamilton College in Charlotte. He was married in 1966 to the former Rachel Simpson. John was a Vietnam War Veteran serving with the U.S Army 25th Aviation Division during 1965-1968. He received the U.S Army Bronze Star Medal and the Cross of Gallantry with Silver Star Medal. John served 5 terms on the Cabarrus County Parks and Rec. Commission; also served as Chief Judge for the Georgeville election precinct of Cabarrus County.
John was a fun loving person with a great sense of humor and loved to help people. He was a loving husband, enjoyed traveling, going to the yard sales and meeting his buddies each morning for coffee at Troutmans BBQ in Concord.
A receiving of friends will be from 10:00 am - 12:45 pm, Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at Hartsell Funeral (Family will not be present). A private funeral service will be held at Hartsell Funeral Home in Concord for the family, officiated by Rev. Doug St. John and special remarks by Rev. Frank Sossamon. Burial will follow at the Crooked Creek Primitive Baptist Cemetery at 7920 Crooked Creek Church Rd., Monroe, where friends are invited to attend.

Survivors include wife, Rachel Simpson Parker of Concord, NC, sisters, Mary Lou Bradley of Anderson, SC, Barbara Ann Morgan (Royce) of Kannapolis, NC, brothers, Robert "Bob" E. Parker (Alva) of Concord, NC, brother, Steve Parker (Diane) of Concord, NC, along with several nieces and nephews.
