John Furr

John Reece Furr, 53 years of age, of Oakboro, passed away Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at his home.

Mr. Furr was born April 17, 1963 in Stanly County to Jerry Wayne Furr and JoAnn Sasser Bullins.

John was a three time IHRA world champion drag racer. He was employed with Confederate Chevrolet from 1978 until its closing before opening his own business. His interests including hunting, fishing and golfing. John was greatly admired and loved in the community where he resided and also the racing community.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Saturday, August 13, 2016 at Hartsell Funeral Home in Albemarle.

Survivors include mother, JoAnn Bullins of Oakboro; father, Jerry Furr of Monroe; sister, Patty Furr Randolph and husband Scott of Concord; brother, Steve Furr and wife Denise of Harrisburg; nephews, Jonathan Almond and Nicholas Furr; and nieces, Rebecca Randolph and Sarah Furr.
