John Greenlee

John Lewis Greenlee, 78, of Newport News, VA passed away on February 14, 2011 at his home. The family will receive friends Friday, February 18, at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle from 12:30-2 PM; at other times the family will meet at the home of his daughter, Fran Andrew, 1105 Belvedere, Albemarle, NC and at the home of his granddaughter Shannon Speight, 24752 Kate’s Drive, Albemarle, NC. The service will be held Friday, February 18 at 2 PM in Hartsell Funeral Home’s Lefler Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow the service at Stanly Gardens of Memory. Pastor Bob Gruver will officiate the services. Mr. Greenlee was born in Stanly County on December 11, 1932 to the late Francis Leland and Lily Mae Greenlee. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara Jane Greenlee. After retiring from Alcoa, he worked for the United Steel Workers. He was also a member of Hilton Presbyterian Church in Newport News. Mr. Greenlee is survived by his wife, Ann Greenlee of Newport News, VA; sons, Johnny Greenlee and wife Frances of New London, Robert Greenlee of Richmond, VA; daughter, Fran Andrew of Albemarle; sisters, Dorothy “Dot” Blair of Badin, Nancy Bostian of South Carolina; grandchildren, John, Justin and Jordan Greenlee, Robby Greenlee, Shannon Speight, Stephen and Jason Andrew; and two great-grandchildren.
