John Helms

John Ryland Helms, 88 years of age, of Albemarle, passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis.

Mr. Helms was born August 11, 1928 to the late James Luther and Autybelle Burris Helms. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife, Vera Helms; son-in-law Vickey Huneycutt; brother, Charlie Lee Helms; sisters, Mary Gladys Hatley and Rhoda June Burris. John was retired from the NC Department of Transportation after many years of service. He loved the Lord and attended services regularly at Homeland Baptist Church where he loved his church family.

Burial will be in the Stanly Gardens of Memory at 2001 East Main St., Albemarle.

Survivors include: daughter, Colean Boysworth of Albemarle; daughter, Carolyn and husband Benny Livengood of Salisbury; son, Johnny and wife Rita Helms of Welcome; son, Jimmy and wife Phyllis Vanhoy of New London, son, Larry and wife Micki Chrzanowski of Homosassa, FL; 3 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; brothers, James Clayton Helms of Albemarle, Bobby and wife Bonnie Helms of Stanfield; sisters, Annie Mae Harvell of Locust and Lilly Biggers of Concord.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Tucker Hospice House, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081
