John Henry Kiker, 93, of Monroe, N. C., passed away Saturday, September 10, 2011 at his home. Mr. Kiker was born September 1, 1918 in Union County. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Rushing Kiker; father, John Adrian Kiker; and mother, Eva Ann Ramsey Kiker. He served in the Army in World War II, was a member of Antioch Baptist Church of Monroe, and a member of Unionville Legion Post 535. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m., Monday, Sept. 12, at Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, with a 30 minute state, at Antioch Baptist Church of Monroe. Rev. Joe Query, Rev. George Gouge, and Rev. Thomas H. Kiker will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military graveside rites. At other times, the family will meet at his home. Survivors include his sons, Ronald Gene Kiker and his wife, Kay, of Monroe, and Rev. Henry Roger Kiker and his wife, Sheila, of Eure, N. C.; his daughters, Teresa J. Kiker and Annette K. Edwards and her husband, Tony, of Monroe; his brother, Charles Ellis Kiker; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
