John Lucas, Sr

John Rayvon Lucas, Sr., 89 years of age, of Albemarle, passed away Sunday, May 10, 2015, at his residence.
Mr. Lucas was born July 25, 1925 in Stanly County to the late Thomas Marshall Lucas and the late Rena Cruse Lucas. He was also preceded in death by his son, John Rayvon Lucas, Jr., in 2013.
A Memorial Service will be on Wednesday, May 13, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at Canaan Baptist Church, 711 Rogers Street in Albemarle, officiated by Rev. Paul Pickler. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.
Survivors include wife of 52 years, Thelma Talbert Lucas of Albemarle, NC; a brother, Ronald Lucas of Albemarle; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Lucas served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a loving father and husband, and enjoyed traveling.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Stanly County and The Uwharrie, 960 North First Street, Albemarle, NC 28001, or to a charity of donor's choice.
