John Napier

John Wayne Napier, 80, of Albemarle, passed away Thursday, June 24, 2021 at Grand Strand Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, SC.

John Wayne was born September 21, 1940 in Stanly County to the late Douglas Smith Napier and Maggie Napier.

John Wayne was also preceded in death by his siblings Helen Mauldin, Ike Napier, Laura Clark, and Jimmy Napier as well as his grandson, Philip Willis.

John was a loving husband and family man.  He talked about his family every chance he got.  John always had a smile and good word for everyone.  John loved working in his wood shop and was well known for his Barbecue cooking.

John retired from Duke Power with 30 years of service.  He was proud to serve as a Mason and Shriner, having served as a Mason for over 50 years

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Monday, June 28, 2021 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, June 29, 2021 in Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel, 522 North Second Street,  Albemarle and will be officiated by John Mauldin. Burial will follow at the Fairview Memorial Park, 1425 East Main Street, Albemarle.

Survivors include his loving wife of almost 27 years, Sherry Napier of Albemarle; daughter, Nickie (Kevin) Harris of Charlotte;  son, John Wynne (Kim) Napier of Norwood; step children, Terry (David) Tucker and Jay (Margaret) Howard; six grandchildren, Konner, Alleigh, Nathan, T.J., Will, and Carson; great grandchild, Hudson; and siblings, Peggy Thompson, Pete Napier and Susie Wilson.
