John Simmons

John Wayne Simmons, 57, of Mt. Pleasant, NC, passed away January 24, 2011, at Presbyterian Hospital, Charlotte, NC. Mr. Simmons was born December 22, 1953, in Cabarrus County. He was preceded in death by his father, John Lewis Simmons and mother, Helen Blackwell Simmons. The visitation for Mr. Simmons will be 11:00 – 1:00, Friday, January 28, at New Horizons Baptist Church, 11777 Hwy. 601, Midland. The funeral service will begin at 1:00, officiated by Rev. Gary Wyrick and Rev. Lewis Whittington. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Freewill Baptist Church, China Grove. At other times, the family will meet at his home. He is survived by his wife, Sable Arthur Simmons, of the home; sons, John Wayne Simmons, Jr. and Christopher Matthew Simmons; daughters, Melissa Ann Simmons, Jessica Dawn Schofield, and Jennifer Nicole Clawson, all of Concord; and five grandchildren.
