Johnnie Newton

Johnnie Byrd (J.B.) Newton, Jr., 93 years of age, of Concord, passed away Saturday, August 1, 2015 at Grayson Creek in Lexington. Johnnie was born November 6, 1921 in Concord, North Carolina to the late Johnnie Byrd Newton Sr. and Mary Emma Deering Newton.

Survivors include his sons, Scott Newton (Amy Bloodworth) of Trinity, Johnnie B. Newton (Pam) of Concord, David Newton (Paula) of Concord; his sister, Ruby Savastano of New Jersey, his grandchildren and great grandchildren, Miranda Newton, Jessica Burkhalter, David Newton, Ashley Newton, Weston Newton, Will Newton and Kaden Newton.

Johnnie was proud to serve his country during WWII. He was awarded The Purple Heart during his active duty in Germany and France. Johnnie was a dedicated husband and father. He died of natural causes.
