Mrs. Johnnie Mae Long Thompson, 72 years of age, of Locust, passed away Saturday, February 6, 2016 at PruittHealth-Union Pointe in Monroe.
Johnnie was born April 18, 1943 in Stanly County to the late George Wilson Long and the late Maggie Mescitous Watkins Long. She was also preceded in death by husband, James Larry Thompson; and brother, Lee Roy Long.
The family will receive friends from 11:30 am - 1:00 pm, Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at Love's Grove United Methodist Church, Stanfield. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm in the church sanctuary and will be officiated by Rev. Jim White. Burial will follow at the church cemetery at 4360 Polk Ford Road, Stanfield.
Survivors include son, James "Jimmy" Thompson of Locust; daughter, Julie Ann Thompson Klausman of Midland; a grandson, Matthew Klausman; and ten siblings, Geneva Hartsell, FW (Shelby) Long, Robert (Peggy) Long, Martha (Jerry) Efird, HB Long, Linda (Grady) Troutman, Frances (Tom) Campbell, Ray Long, Mary (Bill) Taylor, and Bobby (Gwen) Long.
