Johnny Harkey

Johnny David Harkey, 81 years of age, of Concord, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 15, 2015, after two years of declining health.

Mr. Harkey was born July 12, 1933 in Stanly County to the late James Franklin Harkey and the late Emma Brown Sides Harkey. He was also preceded in death by his brother James Edward Harkey.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Sarah Shue Harkey of the home; daughter, Vickie Harkey Fraley and husband David of Richfield, NC; daughter, Donna Harkey of Mount Pleasant, NC; grandchildren Nicole Fraley Lankford, Brittany DeAnne Fraley, Justin Tyler Green and Jacob Tayler Green; as well as four great grandchildren; and his brother Tommy Eugene Harkey.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm, Friday, April 17, 2015 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. The funeral service will immediately follow at 3:00 pm at Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel of Concord officiated by Rev. Rick Felts. Burial will follow at the West Concord Cemetery with military honors. At all other times the family will be gathering at the home.
