Jonathan was a consummate, award-winning science educator for 26 years in the Charlotte Mecklenburg and Cabarrus County School districts, and at Countryside Montessori School. During after school hours, he could be found on the soccer field, helping students with IB projects, or helping to run the First Lego League team at Piedmont IB Middle School. He spent 22 of his summers developing the minds, hearts and spirts of young people at the Keith Family YMCA Day Camp and Countryside Montessori Camp A-Don-Doe. Most evenings for the past 26 years, you could find him helping people at the front desk and the fitness center at the Keith Family YMCA. Members there could count on his kind smile, and they were never strangers for more than a day.
If he was not visiting his family, on weekends you could find him at the Concord Mills LEGO Store. Jonathan just celebrated his 10th anniversary with the LEGO corporation. He always had a warm and friendly “How ya doing?” when children and families entered the store. He went out of his way to make them feel special. When he was not working, Jonathan enjoyed traveling around the world, spending time with his family, and playing with his nieces and nephews. He has been described by many as a selfless bright light filled with joy to share with the world.
