Joseph Castillo
December 19, 1943 — December 2, 2016
Joseph Winston Castillo passed away early Friday morning, December 2, 2016, following complications from a fall.
Joseph leaves behind the love of his life, Nancy Castillo, his brothers Jimmy and Jerry Castillo, his daughter NancyAnn and her husband Brian, his son Jason and his wife Meg, and grandchildren Justine, Jacob, and Logan, along with numerous extended family, friends and colleagues. He was a loving husband, proud father and grandfather and a friend that many could count on.
Born and raised in Guayaquil Ecuador, the son of Jorge and Sara, he moved to Brooklyn when he was 8. He graduated from John Jay High School in 1961 and went on to receive a degree in chemistry from Fairleigh Dickinson University. He lived in cities including Oklahoma City, OK, Cincinnati, OH, Framingham, MA, Huntsville/Madison, AL, Jefferson/New Albany, IN, Coral Springs, FL, and Concord, NC.
His professional career spanned more than 30 years and included marketing and leadership roles at technology companies such as Honeywell, SCI, Motorola, EAS, Lucent and Westell. He rediscovered his faith and became an active parishioner at St. Thomas Aquinas as well as a 4th degree knight in the Knights of Columbus.
Joseph and Nancy were high school sweethearts. Their love for each other showed every day and was shared with those around them in so many meaningful ways. Joseph had the ability to bring joy, love and humor to a place like no one else. He had the unique ability to make the ordinary feel extraordinary.
He truly touched the hearts of everyone he met.
A memorial mass will be held Saturday, December 17th at 9:30am at St. Thomas Aquinas Church. A gathering will be held in Aquinas Hall following the memorial mass.
