Joseph Direnzi

Joseph Nicholas DiRenzi, 84, of Kannapolis, formerly of Jersey City, New Jersey passed away on Friday, October 8, 2010 at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis. Born on March 17, 1926 in Hudson County New Jersey to the late Nazzareno and the late Josephine Somma DiRenzi. He was also preceded in death by a brother George DiRenzi and sister Adeline Bellizzi. Mr. DiRenzi was a veteran of The US Army and served in WWII in Okinawa, Japan. Joseph attended Jersey City Public schools. He was a Tailor and Owner of the family owned business Brunswick Tuxedo Shop in New Jersey, and retired in 1994 from Jersey City Public Schools from the Maintenance Department. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Kannapolis. He enjoyed wood working, especially carving ducks, and also building model airplanes. A visitation will be held at Hartsell Funeral Home in Concord on Monday, October 11, 2010 from 6 until 8 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Kannapolis on Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at 11 AM, with Father Al Riquelme officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis. He is survived by: his wife of 53 years, Mildred DiRenzi; sons, Joseph V. DiRenzi and wife Laura of Neptune, NJ, and John DiRenzi and wife Darina of Kannapolis, NC; daughter, Josephine Bermudez and husband Dan of Glen Rock, NJ; sisters, Anna Hagan of Nutley, NJ, Helen Cattaneo of Jersey City, NJ, and Margarite Lombardi of Jersey City, NJ; grandchildren, Dan Bermudez, Deanna DiRenzi, Victoria DiRenzi, and Nicholas Bermudez. In Lieu of Flowers memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County 5003 Hopsice Lane Kannapolis, NC 28081. Hartsell Funeral Home Concord is serving the DiRenzi family.
