Joseph Hudson

Joseph Brian Hudson, 43, of Mount Pleasant, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 20, 2020.

Joe was born May 17, 1977 in Denver, Colorado, to Bernard Junior Hudson and Debora Lee Pierson Hudson.

When Joe was one-and-a-half years old, his family moved to Charlotte, where he attended Devonshire Elementary and Cochrane Middle School.  At age 16, they moved to Stanfield, where he attended West Stanly High School.  After high school, Joe met his wife, Dana Hudson, and a few years later, they parted ways.  He moved to Mount Pleasant, where he met Cindy Ferguson.

When Joe was young, he enjoyed camping and playing basketball.  He loved to go fishing with his dad.  Joe also liked going to work with his dad, even as a little kid.  He always enjoyed working as a maintenance/handy man and was proud to work alongside his dad at the same company.  Later, Joe worked with his brother, Robbie, until the day he passed.

Joe will be remembered for always looking at life with a sense of humor.   He always tried to take care of his sister, making sure she and her 3 girls had everything they needed.  He loved taking his nieces shopping for shoes and toys.  His niece, Heather, remembers when Joe tried to teach her how to ride a bike.  She ended up going downhill and face-planting into his van.  Joe laughed and encourage her to try again.  His niece, Miranda, remembers when he was helping her with homework.  Joe offered her a glass of apple juice, but gave her apple cider vinegar instead and had a good laugh at that.  His niece, Amber, enjoyed watching cartoons with him.

Joe also dearly loved his parents.  Knowing they didn't have a reception after their marriage, Joe decided to give them a party for their 25th Anniversary and had a wedding cake made for them.  He also helped his mom get a job cleaning.  Robbie said it best, Joe "had a heart of a servant and did not mind helping anyone in need out."  Joe shared his testimony of knowing Jesus Christ as his Savior.

Joe is survived by his parents, Bernard and Debbie Hudson of Stanfield; siblings, Adam Hudson, Amanda Hudson, Joshua Hudson, and Robbie Smith; nieces, Heather Hudson, Miranda White, and Amber White; and longtime girlfriend, Cindy Ferguson.  He is also survived by Pat and Robert Wiley, Larry and Elaine Waldua, Karen Kiner, Al Wilshuen and Makayla Hood.

A memorial service in celebration of Joe's life will be held at a later date.
