The family will receive friend after the burial in the church fellowship hall. At other times they will meet at the home of his parents, 25683 April Lane, Albemarle. Rev. Mark Mabry and Rev. He is survived by two brothers, Steve Shelton MD and wife Karla of Columbia, SC, Stan Shelton and wife Amy of New London; beloved nieces and nephews, Kathryn Elizabeth, Stephen Lee Jr. “Lee†and Tucker Joseph of Columbia, Grayson Lee, Reese Henry and Camille Elizabeth of New London; an aunt and uncle, Jo-Ann and Bobby Madison of Douglasville, Georgia. Their visits and encouragement meant so much to him. He was a graduate of West Stanly High School in Albemarle, NC and attended The School of The Arts in Winston Salem and Catawba College. He was talented in arts, design and horticulture. His first job was with the Belk stores. He worked as visual display manager before leaving. He was Co-owner and Vice President of SIM. He loved the wonders of nature, and the simple pleasures of life. The planting of a seed and watching it come to life. We take comfort in knowing that Joe will be easy to find one day by his family and beloved friends. He will surely have a plant in his hand, and the most beautiful garden to enjoy. To all his friends that helped to bring a little sunshine into his life, words cannot thank you enough. We are so grateful for your love and compassion. We know you will be greatly blessed.
