Joyce Hughes

Joyce Ann Hughes, 82, of Albemarle, passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2018.

Mrs. Hughes was born March 28, 1936 to the late Cletus Opus and Mary Huneycutt Thompson. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Alexander Hughes and brother, Carl Thompson. Joyce was a lifetime member at Union Grove Baptist Church where she was a teacher for the 4 and 5 year old children's class and sang in the choir for many years.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, April 7, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel in Albemarle, officiated by Rev. Jerry Mabry and Rev. Jeremy Blake. Burial will follow at the Union Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

Survivors include: son, Rodney Alexander Hughes (Joan); daughter, Kathy Amecia Hughes; one granddaughter; two great-granddaughters; two step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; brothers, Walter T. Thompson, Ralph (Gaynell) Thompson and several nieces and nephews.
