Joyce Knight

Joyce W. Knight, age 89, of Concord, passed away on Sunday, June 25 at home. Joyce was born November 28, 1927 in Miami, Florida to the late Ralph and Pauline Wheeler. She was a graduate of Mars Hill College and Wake Forest University.

Joyce served with her husband, the late Reverend Howard C. Knight, in Tarboro, NC and in Kershaw, SC before they moved to Buenos Aires, Argentina to serve as missionaries for the Southern Baptist Convention. After 8 years in Argentina, they returned to the US and served in Morehead City, NC. She was also a high school teacher, preschool director and librarian.

She was predeceased by her loving husband, Howard C. Knight. Survivors include her brothers, John Wheeler and his wife, Kay, of Barberville, FL and Jerry Wheeler of Ozark, MO; her children, John Knight and his wife, Jane, of Simpsonville, SC; David Knight of Durham, NC; Ron Knight and his wife, Anne, of Charlotte, NC; and daughter Susan Beauchem and husband, Steven, of Chicago, Ill; granddaughters, Kathryn Knight and Maggie Knight; and grandsons, Matt Beauchem and Jeremy McCarty. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend.

A private memorial service will be held.
