Joyce Morton

Joyce McDonald Morton, age 82 of Aquadale, NC, passed away on December 16, 2010 at Stanly Regional Medical Center. The family will receive friends at Silver Springs Baptist Church on Sunday, December 19 from 1-2 PM. The funeral service will be held at the church at 2 PM with burial to follow in the church cemetery. She was born in Harnett County, NC on July 23, 1928 to the late Eugene and Ruth Cameron McDonald. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 49 years V. Glenn Morton; her stepmother Laura Wilkins McDonald; and her daughter, Glenda Morton. Mrs. Morton was a 1949 Registered Nurse graduate of Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing, where she met her husband who was her patient. She dedicated her life to nursing and retired from Stanly Memorial Hospital in 1993. She is survived by her son David Morton of Aquadale, NC; her daughters, Madilyn Lampley and husband Gordon of Aquadale, NC, and Kay Morton of Aquadale, NC; her brother, Gene McDonald of Seven Lakes, NC; her sister, Faye Bain of Lillington, NC; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Flowers are welcome and memorials may be made to Silver Springs Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 16072 NC 138 Hwy, Norwood, NC 28128. Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle is serving the Morton family.
