Judith Ann Smith

Judith Ann Smith, 76, of New London, passed away Saturday, December 2, 2023, at Stanly Manor.

She was born in Allentown, PA on December 19, 1946, to the late John Edwin Olejack Sr. and the late Anna J. Olejack. She grew up in Catasauqua, PA and later resided in Whitehall Township. Before relocating to NC she attended St. Andrew's Roman Catholic Church in Catasauqua and was a 1964 graduate of Central Catholic High School in Allentown. She was married 42 years to James Joseph Smith, Sr. who preceded her in death in 2008.

Judith is survived by a son, James Joseph Smith, Jr. of Albemarle, NC; daughter, Jessica Lynn St. Martin and husband, Erik M. St. Martin of Midland, NC; grandchildren, Kendall Elizabeth Stamper and Karlye Michelle Stamper;  brother, John Edwin "Jack" Olejack of Tampa, FL; and nephews, John Michael Olejack of Toms River, NJ, Andrew Nicolas Olejack of Orlando, FL, and Phillip Anthony Olejack of Northampton, PA.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by daughter-in-law, Ann Marie Smith.

Judy started the J's Jolly Jalopy ice cream truck which was enjoyable for many throughout Albemarle and Stanly County. She enjoyed bowling and disco dancing in her younger years. She loved everyone in her family and her church friends, as well as dogs. She also enjoyed backyard house parties and playing cards with the "Bunko" ladies.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm - 12:45 pm, Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service will follow on Wednesday at 1:00 pm at Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel in Albemarle officiated by Father Peter Fitzgibbons. Burial will immediately follow at the New London Cemetery at 331 Spring Street, New London.
