Julia Elizabeth Cotton, 84, of Albemarle, passed away Saturday, February 26, 2011 at Stanly Regional Medical Center. The family will receive friends 11:00 – 12 Noon on Monday, February 28, 2011 in the Fellowship Hall of Central United Methodist Church, Albemarle, followed by the funeral service in the sanctuary at 12:00 Noon. Rev. Mark Weekly will officiate. Burial will follow at Fairview Memorial Park. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Edgar Harris and Bertie Miller Harris, her husband, William Harold Cotton, Sr. in 2009; her brothers, Paul Harris, Milton Harris, George Harris and John Ray Harris, and her sister, Connie Harris Yow. She is survived by; her two sons, William H. Cotton, Jr. and wife, Melissa, of Raleigh, N. C. and John T. Cotton and his wife, Katherine, of Birmingham, Alabama; three grandsons, John Ryan Cotton and his wife, Amy, of Tampa, Fl, Benjamin Austin Cotton of Marietta, Ga. and Lee Hawthorne Cotton of Birmingham, Al. Mrs. Cotton worked as a medical assistant until her retirement. She performed as a community volunteer by serving Central United Methodist Church, American Cancer Society, Meals on Wheels, Christian Ministries, and others.
