Julia Ferguson

Julia Magdaline Ferguson, 75, of Concord, NC passed away Saturday, December 14, 2019 at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis.

Julia was born May 28, 1944 in Stanly County, NC to the late Matthew Levy Barbee and the late Flora Barbee.
She was also preceded in death by her husband Paul Ferguson in 1991; infant son Alan Ferguson; brothers Berton Barbee, Grover Barbee, CJ Barbee, Harvey Barbee, Jacob Barbee, Dillon Barbee, ML Barbee, Jr; as well as sisters Gladys Efird and Pauline Barbee.

Survivors include daughter, Paula D. Smith and husband Gerald of Concord, NC; daughter Amy F. Mayhew and husband Brian of Davidson, NC; grandchildren Ashley Smith, Christine Fitts and husband Jimmy, Rebecca Chewning and husband Jamie, Britney Mayhew and Dillon Mayhew; great granddaughter Ava Ferguson and great grandson JJ Chewning; as well as siblings Marie Stogner and husband Henry; Katherine Eudy and husband Hal; Cecil Barbee and wife Sue.

Julia dearly loved her family and was a true believer in her Lord.  She was a hardworker and dedicated 40 years of service to Atrium Cabarrus.  She enjoyed working in her yard and took great pride in her flowers.  Julia will be truly missed by all those who knew and loved her, especially her loving family and her dear friends Frances Mesimer and Carol Cihak.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Monday, December 16, 2019 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. The funeral service will be on Tuesday at 1:00 pm at Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel of Concord.  Burial will follow at the Red Cross Baptist Church Cemetery in Oakboro, NC.
