Stanfield

Julia Parks Wilson, 87 years, of Stanfield, died peacefully at home May 4, 2018, surrounded by her loving family.  A twenty year cancer survivor, she succumbed to Alzheimers, bedridden for the past year.  She finally gets to reunite with her loved ones, due to the Promises of her Savior, Jesus Christ.

She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, George Raymond Wilson; son, Robert Anthony "Tony" Wilson; daughter Debra Wilson Hefner; and son-in-law, Guy Hefner, Jr.

She was predeceased by her parents, James Lee Parks and Cammie Lee Johnston Parks; brothers, Ira, Raymond, Bill, and Paul Parks; sisters, Mildred Watson, Evelyn Parks; other family to her, Nathan and Joyce Wilson, Cliff and Maxine Wilson, and Billy Short.

Surviving children are George "Randy" Wilson of the home, David "Willie" Wilson, Nathan (Barbara) Wilson, Elizabeth "Libby" (Danny) Watts, all of Stanfield.  She loved all eight grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson!

Also surviving is her brother, Jimmy (Robbie) Parks; Wilson family, John (Maxine) Wilson and Sarah Short; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Some attributes; selflessness, loving, great cook (biscuits and fried chicken), nurturer, confidant, and best friend.

Mom was born in Lowell, NC and raised in Charlotte.  She worked during the war years at Union Carbide Battery, Quality Control, earning the nickname "Hawkeye".  She also worked at Nebel Knitting Mill, now "SouthEnd".  After her initial first marriage failed she married Ray Wilson.  They moved to Dilworth and after their last child went to school, mom decided to get training and worked at Charlotte Memorial Hospital working in the Burn Unit as Surgical Tech II where she retired early after 20 years of service, to be full-time caregiver for her mother-in-law.  We moved to Stanfield in 1975.  It was definitely different from city life!  She loved to garden, harvest, canning, plant flowers, cooking Sunday dinners for all generations.

She was a member of Love's Grove United Methodist Church Golden Rule Sunday School Class.

Mom always had a smile on her face, loved caring for others, showing love in her many various ways, and babysitting.  Mom didn't mince words.  You knew what she thought, because she told you.  Mom never drove but loved to go shopping.  Tuesdays at Goodwill (25% off for seniors), then West Stanly Christian Ministries where prices were even cheaper!  True to her faith, family, and friends, she was proud of us all!

Her service will be held Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at Love's Grove United Methodist Church, 4380 Polk Ford Road, Stanfield, NC officiated by Rev. Jim White..  Her body will lie in state in the church from 12:30 p.m. until 1:45 p.m., while the family receives friends in the Fellowship Hall. The funeral will begin at 2:00 p.m. in the sanctuary followed by burial in the church cemetery.  The family will also receive friends in the Fellowship Hall following the burial.

Memorials may be made to Love's Grove UMC, for "Missions" Fund, P. O. Box 276, Stanfield, NC 28163 or to Hospice of Stanly & The Uwharrie, 960 North First St., Albemarle, NC 28001.
